Why can't people stop obsessing over religion, and just live their lives?

"I'm right"..."your wrong"...."damnation"..."salvation"....
I understand that religion IS some peoples lives..but isn't there more to life than arguing over religion, and shoving ideals down peoples throats? I know not all Christians are like that, and I do believe in God, but If God is real, doesn't the Bible say he gives us a choice? I can't understand why people live their lives through anothers ideals, and then continually question why they are unhappy? How about stop letting other people live your lives for you! lol. No one is perfect, never will be, and religion can't make you perfect. There is just to many people that think they can fix the world, and never try to fix themselves. Believe in God, or don't FINE..but stop pointing fingers. Imagine what a difference there could be if the people I am reffering to put half as much passion into actually living, than into fighting about unresolvable issues!!
I don't know about you, but I want to be happy, so I choose to live...not just "exist".

I've been aware of just how deeply ingrained the neurosis of religion is in our culture only for as long as I've been on YA. As a gay man I of course knew there were some crazy-a$$ed fundagelicals out there. But as a reasonably intelligent urbanite I've never heard from xians or just plain straight, conservative types, the kind of outrageous, purely murderous hatred as I've read here.
