There's a huge population of chinese international students at my school. I tried befriending some of them... don't get me wrong, they are nice people. BUT they wouldn't really try to hangout with you or befriend you... They stay together, study together etc. I'm thai...and I am an immigrant. I thought because we are both asian, it would be easier to have chinese friends at school. It turns out... they are not that open for friendship with other races.
- I know it's because they could speak chinese with each other. I'm just kind of sad cause no matter how I try to be nice...and show them that I don't care if they speak little english, they still don't consider me as their "friend". It is sad because I'm thai but I try to make friends with ALL types of people even if my english is not perfect and slang. I don't wanna make myself exclusive to my race only because I know I'd learn a bunch if I mingle with different types of people.
So I was wondering..are they racist? or is it just because of the language barrier?
