other religions Pagan? In general, there are always exceptions, but I have found in the past that when I call Christians "pagans" they tend to fly off the handle, even when they have been calling others pagan.

Unfortunately, the term pagan has become loosely used to describe pretty much all witchcraft and satanic practices. Those who are ignorant and choose not to learn use the word wrongly, and have no clue what Pagan really is.

Christians dub the word pagan upon anyone who is into or practices witchcraft, sorcery, or devil worship. They don't understand that there is no "devil" in the belief system, and that many of their traditions and symbols were actually borrowed from pagan origins in an attempt to convert pagans to Christianity back in the early churches during the times of the Roman Empire. Catholicism was the first and main church to adapt specific pagan elements into their system, and over the years the other churches borrowed from their "mother church" as they branched off.

The Pagans were a group of people considered to be the Celts of England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. They were polytheistic in their beliefs in that they worshiped more than one god. They were people of nature, and their belief system consisted of Druids which were basically high order shamans. Women were highly regarded in their societies, and were encouraged to become priestesses and had a high standing among their people.

So although Christian churches do use some pagan based beliefs, symbols and rearranged holidays, it isn't completely accurate to call them Pagans. Many Christians would be offended by being associated with the word, as by their incorrect definition of the word, is considered a "cult" or satanic system.
