...explicitly prohibits them anyway? "You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them."
crosses beeing banned? really this is a good day one step further in getting that xian lie out of here now they finnally see they cant do anything they want they need to follow the rules like all the others they are not higher then society they may think they is in the future they will be lower then us all!
If anyone makes a cross for the purpose of worshipping it God will deal with them. If they make or buy a cross and wear it or hang it on a wall with the purpose of it being a reminder of the sacrifice Jesus made for us God will be pleased. Please read the old testament more carefully.
That is a very good point. Some christians say they don't worship the cross so that it is okay but they fail to read the commandments properly.
It is very explicit that they should not MAKE ANY images or likenesses of anything in Heaven or on Earth, which includes likenesses of Jesus whether on a cross, on a piece of antique fabric, on a slice of toast or on a pizza and worship them, yet hundreds of thousands of christians travel around the world to visit specific artefacts, like the shroud of Turin or some statue that cried blood every year. They also hold their crosses when they pray or pray before a symbol of Christ or adorn their buildings with their symbols so they can be with christ all day etc. It's all fundamentally wrong according to the Bible.
All such practices are technically against the 10 commandments as written by Moses; the Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the literal translation of this text and you won't catch them wearing crosses or adorning the office with symbols of their faith. Now if they'd just stop knocking on the door on Sunday morning when I'm having a lay in.....
A cross is not of heaven above or beneath the earth it is a wordly reminder of what our saviour did for us. We do not worship it, therefore it is not prohibited.
