...expense of taxpayer money? In ancient times, the wife of a king was treated very well with many perks. Free vacations are hardly comparable to what the wife of Pharaoh would have enjoyed. I believe more of our tax dollars should go to fund her extravagant vacations in Europe, her wild shopping sprees in Manhattan, her lavish lobster dinners, her 26 servants and her top designer brand clothing.

Michelle Obama is incredibly beautiful and intelligent. Americans love and adore her. She is a hero for saving millions of obese children with her campaign against childhood obesity promoting healthy eating and exercise. We should all follow her advice and eat our peas.

What's really sad it that if the POTUS is Democrat or Republican; they'll never be able to simply enjoy the simple things in life without: security, extra cars, plan route escapes, and things we are not even aware of because of position, and those with evil intentions. Let's face it; it cost and we the people pay the price as do they.

There are laws in place that apply to all presidents and their families in regards to taxpayer funding. Michelle Obama has paid for every vacation she's taken. You're a terrible troll.

She isn't the wife of a king. Obami is the president and on the payroll. He's lucky to still have a job.

I finally figured out what really bothered me about the first lady saying "For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country." It bothered me more than just her admission that it required her husband being elect president for her to be proud of the United States warranted. After all, leftist being ashamed of or actively expressing disdain for the greatest country on earth is common place. What bothered me was her inclusion on "in my adult life" and what that implies. That implies that she feels that any previous pride in the country that had given her so much was immature and that the rest of us who have been grateful to have been born here and respected our country prior to her husbands election were childish and immature as well. It was a backhanded compliment to the US with an added slap at patriotism and the belief in american exceptionalism.
 
One reason is that the President and his wife talk about spending less and stuff but they don't live by example and when they do any vacationing they tend to spend more than all the past Presidents and their families ever had. That is probably the biggest reason. By the way back then they did not have the media so far up their butt so now they have to have a fake image to look good so they can get reelected and other political imagery.
