You fact-loving liberals should break it down by county, race, and political affiliation instead of just state, yet I think there are more on welfare in Chicago than the state of Alabama.
 
You really need to provide some sort of documentation for a claim like that before presenting it. You are only polarizing the situation, a situation that calls for clarity and truth.

Speaking as someone who knows people who work in social services, there will always be a few people who take advantage of situations. The percentage is much smaller than some people think, though. A vast majority of recipients have no place left to turn.
 
My very first job was as a cashier at a grocery store.
Every single day, I would have to check out several people that bought $100 of food with food stamps, and $100 of beer, cigarettes, and lotto tickets with cash. Every. Single. Day.
I've been a conservative ever since.

Theft is a crime. And welfare (every form of it including food stamps, section 8, social security, medicare, etc.) is theft and therefore a crime. It is a gross violation of basic human rights and should be eliminated completely.

If you need help, then ASK your neighbor. Hiring the government to steal it from your neighbor is just plain evil.
