Why do people claim that others are "forcing" their religion on them?

Seriously, don't they have the right to cover their ears if they don't want to hear it? How is it "forced" on them?
How is the passing of proposition 8 the fault of the voters? I always thought the government was at fault for bringing the rights of gays to a vote in the first place.

Because it infringes on the lives of people who only want to be happy and have equal rights.

Good question. I believe some times religion can be forced, because some people don't like to close their ears when religion is questioned.

But when people say under god is forcing religion, I think that is ridiculous, honestly.
