Why do people complain about "ignorance" as if they themselves aren't...

...ignorant about some other culture? Besides don't tour guides make a living off of other people's ignorance? They DO benefit from other people's ignorance because otherwise the tourists would probably be bored hearing the same facts they already know anyway.
