I was reading some questions, like wtf why is everyone so offended? It's not derogatory or anything.

Logic: A guy is at a club, a girl is approaching him, but one of his male friends walks to him at the same time. The guy says "nice blazer bro, you're looking fresh." At this point the girl who overheard the convo might think the guy is homosexual and back off, but if the guy said "no homo" at the end of the sentence it clears up any misconceptions someone hearing might have and the girl would have continued to approach the guy.
oh yea because saying "no homo" makes a douche. Good one, way to stay focused on the argument

Because it shouldn't be an issue if a guy compliments another guy. Regardless of sexuality. And I sincerely doubt that a girl is going to be turned off by a guy whose friend compliments him on a suit.

In the vein we're in here, will you be terribly offended if I add a link to this when people are asking what the dumbest questions we've seen here are?

D

i'm gay, i don't care. sometimes people use it too much and it sounds like they're insecure with their own sexuality but around my friends we use "no homo" and "no hetero" all the time, it's funny. last week i told my cousin that her shirt looked good, "no incest". it's just humor.

Cause they know he's homo anyways and don't like fake people.

Even if they do say it, it doesn't really mean anything.

Lying, hello!

Saying "no homo" is not only offensive, it's rather dumb.

Any girl who thinks that a guy is gay because he says that another guy is wearing a nice blazer and "looking fresh" is also dumb.

Similarly, it would be offensive for me to say, "I know some Spanish. No Latino."

Why would it be necessary for me to say that I'm not Latino? Most people understand that one can speak some Spanish without being Latino, so unless I assume that everyone around me is brain dead, I would have no reason to specifically try to separate myself from Latinos. Unless, of course, I had some prejudice towards Latinos, and wanted you to know that I was NOT one of THEM.

So you can have it one of two ways: either the person saying "no homo" is an idiot, or he assumes the people listening are idiots. Also, as I pointed out using my Latino example, it is offensive.

Because I don't hug my opposite sex friends and say "NO-HETERO".

It sounds stupid.

It implies that you're insecure of your sexual orientation and potentially homophobic.

I have to see you kiss or flirting with another guy to think you gay .

and it is a mean term if doesn't affect you because your Straight so you don't understand .

ok I'll give an example what if I said straight sex is boring some people might agree with me but a straight person would be offended .
