why do people go on about India being a future superpower?

when the majority of the country live in slums? the gulf between the rich and the poor is disgraceful. Their government does nothing to help the poor. their transport system is a joke (all forms) how on earth can this country become a super power when there is people starving to death?
 
Because like China they have a massive work force they can treat like s**t and pay peanuts.
