Why do people hate on celebrities so much?

I don't understand it. They went after their dreams, they work hard, and they have to put up with all the haters. You don't have to like their voice, or their acting.. but how could you HATE someone you never met? Yeah some might have had it handed to them but they still have to work for it and stuff.
People like Justin Bieber (beiber ?) or Miley Cyrus.... Is it jealousy?
