Why do people love reminding you that they have traveled abroad?

Always saying stuff like"yeah this reminds of when I used to live europe". lol That stuff doesn't impress. Traveling abroad isn't cool. You know what's cool? Traveling out of space. "This reminds me of when I went to the moon the first time". That would impress me.

Travel or no travel, it doesn't matter. Some travel all over the world and see nothing. Some never leave their town and see the world for what it is.

Knowing the underlying factors may or may not be found by travel. Knowing the desire and passion of humanity may or may not be found by travel. But understanding yourself is the true key-and you need not go anywhere to accomplish that.

Me? The furthest I've been is Honduras and Mexico.

Agreed. But then again, there are those people who like to act like not having traveled abroad is some mark of stupidity.

I would opine that I have been to many foreign countries and at the time I was not particularly surrounded with "cultured elites" as my fellow travelers.

I think traveling is awesome. It expands your sense of the world and teaches you about other cultures and you can see amazing new places.
