Why do people take the "Gay" as an offensive word?!?

I get that ALOT! & I mean ALOT! I do get mad because people are like "Oh, he looks like a fa**ot and he's gay" and they laugh like immature idiots and I feel bad not because of the word but because of there actions you know?! I mean if people are just curios If I like boys I just tell him "No, I don't like boys I like girls".!
 
because the way that most people mean it implies that being gay is a bad thing, which i can certainly understand would be offensive.
 
its something new to the world, people will adjust to it in the coming years!

i think people use the word gay as an offensive word cause they think its bad and they use it in ways to describe something bad, like a bad movie or a bad book or a geeky person
