Why do Republicans always complain about educated people?

I always hear and read comments about "educated elite" and how they complain how liberals don't work but get an education.

Um HELLO! IT'S BETTER TO HAVE EDUCATION AND DEGREES TO TALK ABOUT OVER JUST WORKING HARD!!!

So you work hard, so what! So yo worked since you were 12, who cares? I have much more respected for ppl that brag about their education than someone that brags about hard work.
@John it's funny you say that because I agree, degrees like MikeGolf's are hilarious!

@MikeGolf: I have a BS in Chemical Engineering and I am pursuing my Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering. How else can I dumb it down for you (Republican brain)?

I am willing to bet that most of the Republicians here are better educated than you are.

And not only that we are educated in things that are relevant in the real world.

Why do you and I compare our educations? I'll go frst
BBA - Financial Accounting
BS - Security Management
Currently working on my Master's in Homeland Security.

Now - what is your education?

So how is that degree in 'Diversity' working out for you.

Liberals go to college to become more deeply enmeshed in their fantasy world.

This is the 'education' Republicans are contemptuous of.

God bless you if you got a degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Architecture, Business management or anything else that actually produces something we need.

What Liberal Academia is good at producing is Women who don't reproduce & Men who expect handouts.

And I have more respect for an illegal alien gardner than tenured Berkly professor blathering on about how humans are the bane of the Earth.

These are the first words I have heard uttered on such a thing. I would be curious to know who and what was said. It sounds ludicrous to me.

I will be more specific. I complain about educated people, who, even with a degree, are less intelligent than many who have not attended college. There. Now we need not speak so generally.

You missed the key word "elite". There is nothing wrong with an education. A good education should be considered a cornerstone to a good career. I will admit that I value some degrees over others. Specifically any degree that gives you a title. Such as Engineer, Doctor of Medicine, Lawyer, and so on. Advanced degrees in subjects like art, english, and even business are all but worthless anymore. Back to the elite issue, these are people who feel they are owed some level of special treatment due to having an advanced education. I have met some of these people and they really do look down upon others. The long and short of it is that for all practical proposes your Doctorate in English does not add up to much unless your a teacher. Who cares if you have a Doctorate in fine arts?

Their argument about educated elites is that they don't seem to contribute anything to the economy or society (what does getting a Bachelor's in Art History do?), and that they seem to be more snooty about it (elitism and the consequent anti-elitism). There's also the notion of the ivory tower, where people just stay inside and study and remain isolated from the outside world - the ideas that spring from this environment tend to be fanciful, nonproductive, or just plain weird.
