Why do so many baseball players peak at old age of 35 compared to before?

Remember 20 yrs ago when players hit 35 yrs of age they were finished but now you see so many great seasons in the mid to late 30's..
Why?

Remember 20 years ago how most Baseball players weren't in the best shape ever and didn't lift lots of weights and maintain healthy lifestyles and have physicians around the clock making sure their playing the correct amount of time and getting the right amount of rest?

Oh wait...

It's a different era buddy, instead of just playing until you couldn't like it was in the past. Players these days plan for the long run (longer your career = the more money you make) so players do everything in their power to extend and protect their careers.

They work out more now and ssssss.... the steroids. Some players have taken it, like Barry Bonds i mean COME ON!!! Hitting 73 home runs at age 36, 46 at age 37, then 45 at ages 38 and 39. I know somethings up. Sammy Sosa couldn't do that and he corked his bat. So yea some unidentified players may take steroids to keep going on. Also, hey work out and get in shape for what is ahead.
