Why do we buy products that are endorsed by celebrities and doctors?

have you ever seen that proactive commerical w/ Jessica Simpson? well they use her because people want to look like and have skin like Jessica Simpson because she is pretty is an celeb. That way more people will buy their product and they will make more money. Even tho in my opinion superstars are overated.
