I have watched Ghana, Cameroon,Nigeria, S.Africa, Ivory Coast,Algeria etc matches and each of these teams is referred to as 'The Africans', other teams from Europe or Asia and S. America are never referred to as 'The Europeans', 'The Asians' or 'The S.Americans'. Does it mean Africa is one big country like USA? Does Africa have provinces/states like here in Canada and USA? If so, why is Africa allowed so many teams and not just one team representative of the whole country?

Africa isnt a country its a continent. it is made up smaller countrys in the north and so each has there own team

Most African continent countries qualify for FIFA 2010 this time in FIFA world cup Qualifiers beating the best teams around the world.

Usually A F R I C A N 's go by continent rather then country or state or province. Of course, yes there are many countries in African continent like, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa and so on and ruled by individual governance of there own.

Oh My... you Americans really do not learn anything at school. How could you possibly think that Africa is one big country? WOW

OMG. America is made up of separate states but are ultimately governed by the one President of the US. Africa is a continent made up of separate countries which are all self-governed. Thus, America has one team to rep it while many (not all) of the African countries are represented by their own respective team.
