Why does Hollywood keep casting the same actors/actresses in movies?

It's the same with the music industry. Like all the other comments have said, already established actors are more likely to get people into the cinema. Established musicians will play big venues because they know it's got a high probability of sell out shows (=$£€). Getting to know people in the music/acting fields has its benifits too, if I'm a director and I know an actor I've worked with is amazing on set and delivers, I'm more likely to hire them again (e.g. James Cameron films) Plus it's much easier than sifting through the masses for new talent.
Of course there's more talent but they have to prove themselves. When their movies start making big money then they can command bigger roles and higher salaries. The main reason the same stars are called upon is because they're bankable. Big names means people will go out and spend money to see the movie. The studio wants to make at least 3x it's money back based off their budgets. They're taking a massive risk by not getting bankable stars. When you hear studios taking risks casting no names in big roles like Superman for example, they really are. They always take risks but calculated risks. There are bankable actors that make duds and flops but their success more than likely far exceed the failures. Some stars make average and below average movies. Those I couldn't tell you how they do it cause it's a mystery to probably most people. If there's a reason I don't know what it is. Probably because they can make money for the studios in other ways.
