Why does itunes say i'm not connected to the internet when I am?

I want to download the latest software for my ipod, but itunes is telling me that i'm not connected to the internet. This is odd as I actually am and I can browse the itunes store and download songs??
 
my itunes says im not connected to the internet but i am. (TOSHIBA WINDOWS7)
