why does my guinea pig whine when i pet it?

i just bought guinea pigs about a week ago and have been trying to interact with them and gain their trust by letting them sit in my lap and i feed them by hand and pet them, they have no problem with it..

but lately when i have the piggie in my lap to pet it, it whines!? all i do is gently pet it from between the ears to halfway down its back

i dont understand whats wrong :(
 
New pets take awhile to get used to their owners. Give it some time and gently interact with your guinea pigs daily and they will get used to you. Good luck!
