why does my silicone cell phone skin smell so badly?

i bought this "skin" for my LG VU and it smells horrible. it literally gives me a headache

Silicone tends to retain moisture and what you are probably smelling is mold. I would throw it away.
 
It's probably the poisonous fire protectant put in the item by the chinese, USA also has very stiff mandations on these laws since about 2005 when the democrats went absolutely nuts in congress.
