...she isn't fat and I am not calling her? Fat.

I am just joking around about her pregnancy weight, its funny and she doesn't seem to get it. I tell her all the time shes not fat at all just really heavy due to the baby. And then she even made a scene at a restaurant when I asked the waiter if the hair at the table can withstand a heavyload, and then she just stormed out and would not stop yelling and crying over a simple joke.

Its a JOKE! how can she be getting so worked up over a little sarcastic humor!
 
well since she has a lot of mood swings at the moment she is very sensitive about her body and pretty much everything that is going on with her. When people joke about her weight one minute and then say "your not fat I was just joking" she's not going to believe it; she's going to believe the joke is the truth and get pissed off, like she has been doing.
If I were you I would just stop joking about it all together because now that you know it does upset her you should be more kind and sweet and just keep on telling her how beautiful she is and talk about the baby, maybe even rub her belly and talk to the baby. This will help to make her believe that you mean what you say, when you say she's not fat, and just don't joke about her being fat anymore.

It is NOT funny to HER. If you had ANY affection for her at all, you'd stop the moment you realized she doesn't find it funny.

Her body has been changing -- it's not her own, real body now. That's upsetting. Her hormones are completely out of whack, too. She's facing the hugest thing to happen to a person. All these things are stress-making.

Whether you understand it or not is irrelevant.

Publicly humiliating your wife is NOT funny. (Yes, your completely UNFUNNY remark was inflicting public humiliation on your wife. Public humiliation is the WORST thing that a person can do to another person.)

Now, being pregnant, and realizing you must really hate her, she feels stuck with you, despite your not having any real relationship any more. All you can do is apologize, and start pretending that you actually like and even love her. (I say "pretend" because all evidence suggests you actually hate her.)
 
its not a joke if she's hurt by it, its only a joke if everyone is laughing at it. talking about a woman's weight isn't a good idea, and making fun of her when she's pregnant is a horrible thing to do, that's just cruel. you should be more supportive of her feelings, its clear that she does not like the things you are saying, so be a man and be nice to her, she's pregnant with your kid after all, she has to go through all the physical/mental/emotional changes and your being a major jerk. that was very insulting to say such a thing in a public place. you have no idea what she is going through and instead of making things easier on her and respecting her feelings, you have to make things harder on her, you should be ashamed of yourself. Also everyone knows that females are emotional during/after pregnancy its because of the hormonal changes. you really should be going out of your way to make her feel better about herself, and around you, not bring her down.


i really do feel for your wife, and i'm so glad my fiance isn't anything like you.
 
that's just plain mean! you never tell a women shes heavy weight even if she is or if shes pregnant! with her being pregnant her hormones are way off and with the wrong thing said it can trigger something that will make a girl flip! its bad enough that are hormones are all jacked up while being pregnant but we don't need you guys making fun of us when we don't always look good! i mean your wife/girlfriend is carrying another person in her SO give her a break and tell her she looks good and shit like that!

oh boy! making fun of ur pregnant wife's weight is not a cool thing. u hurt her feelings. she is already feeling unattractive and u r making fun of her. u should make her feel special and pretty. my husband never did something like this.
 
LOL, it could be hormones or she just don't want to referred to as heavy.
 
You say heavy. She hears fat. End of story.

She's female, she's pregnant, and she's emotional. So just quit making fun of her weight, whether it's baby related or not.

Honestly, I'm almost 33 weeks, and I've be crying if my husband made a joke like that.
