really it all depends on what you want to ride i like my sportster 2000 over 78,000 miles its been across country a few times it fits me.. what id tell you is go and sit on eone or two bikes you will know when you sit on the right one...advantages and disadvantages mostly would be how one rides or the other just like a big car or a small truck. my sportster will keep up
