Why is discrimination on the basis of religion still perpetuated today?

Homosexuals are not allowed to marry in large part due to what the Bible says. Isn't it sad that, even with so much history in discrimination and it's horrible effect on society, we still as a society have legal discrimination on a religious basis?
Christian purity- Bad impact on society? Would love to hear these. Also, banning marriage does not dissuade people from being who they are, it simply limits the rights they have.

HTacianas- How long has interracial marriage been acceptable? Change can be a good thing, and the foundation of marriage should be love, not religion.
 
it's not discrimination. Some things need to be illegal. Such as pedophilia and other things. For the sake of the public and the future of our country.

Homosexuality has a bad impact on society.
 
To answer your question you would have to know what marriage is. How long has marriage between two men been acceptable, and what is its foundation?
 
The world isn perfect everyone cant be happy and get along with everyone thats life and if discrimination wasnt there just like hate then god wouldnt have created hell.
