Why is it illegal to rip a DVD to your computer but it's okay to rip CDs?

and is that something people actually get caught doing and go to jail or pay fines for? Is it like illegally downloading music where yeah it's illegal but you're most likely not going to get in trouble?
it's not illegal to rip cds... you just pop a cd into your computer and it automatically asks you to do it. itunes does it. if it were illegal they wouldn't have that option
lol. well, pot exists but they don't sell it at stores and pretend it's legal
 
It is equally illegal to rip cds, and the chance of getting caught is as slim yet as bad as downloading music illegally.
 
Both are illegal.

Pot grows in the ground, does that make it legal?
Cars can go over 100 miles an hour, does that make speeding legal?
