Why is my 1994 Nissan Sentra's Battery constantly dying?

i had the alternator checked and it's not the problem, but if i leave my car sitting for more than a couple hours my battery inevitably dies and i can't figure out why, the battery is brand new. my dash board lights went out around the time that the battery started dying so i think the two may be linked but i'm not a car person at all...help please!!
 
Something is draining the battery, and most of the time when that happens it is the alternator, even if the alt checks out good, it can drain the battery. Try to replace it and see what happens.
 
bad battery for sure. you can have it tested at auto zone for free. if its new bring it back and tell them the cells are bad. BTW check the dimmer switch on the dash lights it may be turned down all the way.
