Why is my car shaking?

I started my car to go to work and the car was shaking. The check engine light was also blinking, not staying solid. I opened up the hood while it was running and the engine itself was shaking. I didn't drive the car. Later I tried it again and this time the car didn't shake and the check engine light stayed on, it didn't blink. The interior lights and headlights seemed to be dimming then normal over and over rather quickly.

What's the issue here?

it is either the alternator or the battery terminals are not secured ... good luck mate.
