Why is my DivX player not playing the audio?

It's done this for a long time. It used to play juust fine, but I have no idea why it won't play audio. A thing pops up as I start the video saying something about a codec. I've no idea what a codec is. Is it because the files are .avi? I've always watched .aci files and they used to work fine.

As for .aci thats a new one on me being a Media File try the above updates and see what happens, post an additional update if anything goes wrong
