Every night, all night, my neighbors play their stereo, complete with pounding low-frequency bass. I can't hear the other frequencies in the music, but the bass sound keeps me awake all night, makes me very agitated and angry, and makes me sick to my stomach. Strangely, wearing earplugs only makes it louder!
It took me a while to find out where the sound is coming from, because for some strange reason it's noisier in my house than it is right outside his door. Our houses are about 25 feet apart, and the bedroom is on the side close to his house.
Why is this, and what's the best way to approach the problem? I'd like to keep my relationship with my neighbors positive, but I can't live like this - and we own our house, so moving isn't an option.
