Why is the Motorola Backflip Discontinued?

I really want to get at&t's motorola backflip, but everywhere i go it is discontinued, why? Is it a bad phone to have?

Yes it was a very poor android phone for ATT. I think the os was only 1.6 and not upgradeable (if I remember correctly). Buy the Captivate which is a great phone.
