If it's bad because of its built-in software, there isn't any way to fix that, because that only comes from Motorola and Verizon; it can't be "fixed" unless they want to fix it.
This reminds my of my HTC Droid Eris, which was another cheaper Android Verizon phone like the Devour. It was a nice phone until it got an over-the-air update from Verizon, which messed up the bluetooth. After a bunch of calls and emails with HTC and Verizon support, they admitted that they knew the bluetooth was not working because of the update, but that they didn't know if or when they would ever fix it.
