Why people want "autographs" from famous people?

What is the truth behind getting an autograph? Is it a psychological thing...or something from the history? Why exactly an autograph?
 
imagine youre obssed with somebody ( i'm obssed with miley cyrus :D )didn't you wanted an autograph ? Really it is just that person's name written by he/her but for a big fan it's more than that I'd give good money for a miley cyrus autograph
 
They're worth quite a bit of money when said celeb passes on, and it's usually invaluable to the person that received it.
 
Well ots a signature of a famous person and if u get 1 they are worth money. there isn't really
A reason why. If the famous person Dies it's worth more. It's just something that got started to make money.
