...in the 1960s? They believed a new pop culture would generate more distrust among nations.

They were concerned that local cultures would disappear in an international pop culture.

They thought that a “global village” might become one large communist nation.

They did not believe an international pop culture was good for nations’ economies.

It was a revolution breaking free of rigid societal beliefs to explore individual expression and creativity. The concern was anarchy, lack of control of the masses.
