Why won't my nokia nuron alert me when i get a text message?

Whenever i get a text, it wont tell me at all, it doesnt show it on the screen, and it doesnt have the little message icon on the top right corner, i adjusted it so that it would ring when i got a text but it still didnt help! the only way i know, is if i got to my "messages" folder. And when i turned it off, and then turned it on again, it still did the same thing! Please Help.! ?

hi. i saw this on yahoo a couple times.

i have the same phone and the same thing happened to me.

today (9-1-10) i tried clearing my inbox to see if it would help. my phone alerted me of my msgs afterward. i dont know if it'll help you fix it, but let's hope
