Why won't my San Disk memory card work in my AT&T LG Neon anymore?

My memory card for my AT&T LG Neon is a Sandisk 4gb. I've had my memory card for a while now, and I haven't suffered any MAJOR problems until now. Usually before now, the memory card would sometimes not read. I could tell this because certain songs and pictures etc. would not show up on my phone. Before, I would just eject the memory card and put it back in and it would register again. Well, it did that once again after I was trying to send a video to someone, and it won't register anymore. I ejected the memory card and put it back in and it says "All storage settings will default to the Memory Card."" But before, a little icon would pop up on the top of the screen, now there is none. When I go to my Memory settings and select "Memory Card" it says "Not supported!". None of the pictures and songs I had saved to my memory card are showing up. I have tried taking my battery out, restarting my phone, taking the memory card out and putting it back in, turning it off for a while and waiting...but no method seems to work so far. I am afraid that I have permanently lost all of my savings some how. Can someone please explain to me what the problem may be and how to fit it?
