Why won't Vent recognize my ex. microphone?

I just bought a LogiTech external microphone (it looks like a normal pair of headphones, only it has a mic that comes down on the right ear) and it has two extensions on the end, i assume those are audio-in and audio-out, but my Macbook Pro laptop doesn't seem like it has both ports, it has a headphone jack, but i don't see a port with the little "microphone" symbol by it anywhere on my machine.

I also play World of WarCraft and use Ventrilo, but my friends complain of being able to hear the clicking noises of my computer (which happens because I use the laptop's internal mic).

My question is: How can I get Vent to recognize that I have an external microphone set up (because at the moment - it doesn't), and how can I "disable" my INTERNAL mic so the only thing they can hear is my voice when I speak into my EXTERNAL microphone?

P.S. - I would also like to include a question of how to eliminate the need for a "push-to-talk" I would like to be able to simply speak and be automatically heard by the microphone.

There's no microphone port on Macs. If you want an external microphone, then you have to use a USB microphone that is supported by Macs.

Take the microphone back to whoever sold it to you and told you that it would work with a Macbook and get the headphones below:
