Will a 20 gallon long fish tank fit on my just over 2 feet long dresser?

My friend is giving me one of his fish tanks, a 20 gallon long according to him. I wanted to put it on my dresser, which is just over two feet long. I expect a little runoff, but not more than a few inches on each side... would it fit? From what I understand, tanks have a pretty universal size, so...
 
Just make sure it can hold the weight the tank they weigh alot :} If it can then it should be fine.
 
A 20 gallon long fish tank is usually about 36 inches long x 12 inches tall x 12 inches deep from front to back. So yes it should fit as long as no more than 4 inches sticks off each side. And as long as the dresser can hold the weight, than it should be OK.
