Will a replacement faceplate work for my car stereo?

The faceplate that came with my car stereo doesn't work anymore and I was wondering if a faceplate that doesn't go with my stereo would work?

I'm looking at one right now that is the same brand but a different model and I don't know if it would be a waste of money to buy it.
 
You would need to no if it plugs in the same way as your old one ,as long as it had the same amount of prongs on the back of the face plate it would work.
