and games...? I'm 32, and I'm going to speak at a local high school but I very much remember what it was like being in high school and I don't want to be that boring guy that I would have ignored when I was a teen. I want to be myself and show the students you can professional and still have fun/style. What do you think about my format...is it too much?
I come on stage wearing my full motorcyle race gear with helmet(chromed visor). I flip up the visor and say...(Southern accent)"Good mornin folks! Ma name is Fred Twiddleneck and I'm here to change yer life!". Then I take of the helmet and the jacket and pants and underneath I have on a GQ type 2 piece suit and tie. Straight corporate looking. Then I say (Jamaican accent)"Yo wha gwaan yo!?""Everybody cool?". Then in my normal business tone of voice "You can't judge a book by it's cover! Adults sometimes make assumption about you based on stereotype and them forgetting what it's like to be a teenager and they are sometimes wrong. You also make assumptions about how "stuffy" corporate life is based on TV but you are wrong sometimes too. I'm here to school you on what's really going on in the working world." I then go through my story from school rebel to award winner by 11th grade, then Air force, Then success on Wall Street M-F at racing motorcycles and extreme sports on the weekends. Then I talk about dreams, reality, motivation, being your best and taking action. In the beginning I will announce a game; randomly during my speak I will say things like "I can see you in my shadow...wanna jump up in my Lamborghini gallardo" a the students will have to figure out the artist that said that and jump up and shout the name first. Maybe there will be a prize too. What do you think? Fun and cool or corny and boring?
