Will mankind EVER wake up and grow out of its reliance on religion?

If so, when and why do you think this will finally happen?

It's clear that a certain segment of people have continued to believe despite knowledge of modern logic and science, so what can happen that will change this?

Hopefully...And to the person above, religion and morals are definitely seperable. Sure, religion helps to teach morals, but there are plenty of morally fine atheists. You don't need to believe in God to believe that there are right things to do and wrong things to do. By your argument, anyone in a non-monotheistic religion is immoral. (Also consider the fact that some of the world's most important people in history weren't monotheistic...) Confucius for example.

No is the simple answer.... all the politically powerful people view religion as a neccesity for the mass. If there was no religion the poor people have no hope, not even a hope for good after life.

religion---more so Christianity---is a must for all beings------religion and morals are inseparable----without God----we would be nowhere---

These people you speak of are ignorant; they want to believe the world works their own way. They aren't satisfied with scientific explanation. Religion, when you think about it, is really just mere fantasy. I mean can any of these fanatics even PROVE any of these things they preach about so passionately? Of course they can't. They refuse to see the truth, and I doubt we'll see an end to this religious craze within our lifetimes. Think about it; this whole war, and every other war, that we've fought, or Europe has fought, or anyone has fought; have ALL been over RELIGION!!! Seriously.. Give it some thought.. This WORLD WORKS on people's OBSESSION with this BELIEF in some ALMIGHTLY LORD who THEY CANT EVEN PROVE!!!! And at the same time, they still pray in a church, after either FIGHTING, or supporting war.. I REFUSE to go to church. Why?! Why would I go to a building to sit in a room full of hypocrites. WHY?! This whole world EXISTS because of religion, and because people WILL NOT let it go. They are blatantly STUPID. When people can kill one another, then still preach of this almighty "God" who supposedly created anything and everything we know, WHERE'S THE LOGIC??? Religion is truly a curse - nothing more. All it does is BLIND is to the TRUTH which we may never see - not within this life anyway. I truly do not believe this craze will ever end. As long as people are ignorant, and lack knowledge of what really binds this universe together, they will continue to refer to the longest fairy tale ever written - the Bible - for guidance in life, when what they SHOULD be doing, is referring to a scientific textbook instead. IDIOTS!!!!!! THEY ALL ARE IDIOTS!!!!!

Sadly no. Some people will always be attracted to the idea that they can just pray for things to happen, rather than actually work hard and make things happen.

Reliance on religion? Is that what you think?
Well, I hope I don't wake up and grow out of my need to have faith. Your knowledge of logic and science isn't mine. I don't need to rely on anything. I just have faith.

to be honest i don't think so, wich is a pitty but I belive that people who are not particularly brilliant, intelegent, passionate or charismatic are attracted to religion because once you give up the need to try and work it all out things become very easy, in contrast there are some people i know who could use some faith.
but i'm only fifteen and have no right to judge peoles life choices.
peace
