I just got 4 brand new speakers to put in my 2000 cavalier. I didnt want to run an amp or anything so i just bought 2 american bass(sq 6.9) 6x9s and 2 sony xplod 4x6s for the door. I have a older jvc cameleon head unit as well. I replaced all the speakers in the car and when i turned it on i was shocked. There was basically no bass and the sound quality was poor and also when i turn it up loud they get scratchy. I hooked everything up to the factory originals.. wires, etc. I was wondering what the problem was? I figured this would be much better than my out dated factories but i was sorely wrong. Should i run my own speaker wire from the speakers to the head unit and disconnect the factory wires. SHould i hook up an amp? Any help would be appreciated!
