Will the motorola rokr e8 work with alltel?

if i buy the motorola rokr e8 from MOTOROLA not T-Mobile will I be able to take that phone to alltel and get it activated for alltel?
I want the phone, but i dont have T-Mobile, and I can't switch my plans.

If anyone could help me with that, that would be great!!

Unfortunately, you won't be able to use a MOTOROKR E8 on Alltel. The MOTOROKR E8 runs on GSM, which stands for Global System for Mobile communications. Alltel, like Verizon and Sprint, runs on CDMA, which stands for Code Division Multiple Access. While CDMA tends to be faster, its use is less widespread than GSM. So, the GSM phone will not run on CDMA waves.

The phone is GSM meaning it needs sim cards to work where as Alltel is a CDMA carrier and they don't use simcards. They use different technology and are not compatible with each other. You can however buy a flashed CDMA phone online and get it activated with Alltel BUT make sure to contact Alltel first, asking them if they will activating the phone before purchasing it.
