Will the verizon androids break as easily as the envs did?

I've had the env 3 and the env touch which i both loved, but they both started to freeze up and turn off within about 6 or so months. a lot of my friends have had this problem too and it's talked about on the internet. I'm getting a new smartphone, most likely an android in november; will it break just like my envs? also, what is your opinion of one of the best androids?
