Will this iso file compress enough?

I have a 6.41gb iso file that I want to transfer to my external hard drive. When I try to transfer the file, it says the drive doesn't have enough space. I assume this is because the drive is formatted with FAT32 or some kind of system that will only transfer files of 4gb or less. Can I compress the file to be smaller than 4gb so it will transfer? Or should I split the file in order to transfer it?

How do I do either of those solutions?
