windows 7 CD/DVD not working?

i bought the windows 7 64 bit CD/DVD but it wont boot up, needless to say I'm a little pissed off about it.

so here is what I've tried:
-Updating then uninstalling the driver and rebooting the PC
-re-calibrated the optical lens
-set the boot option is BIOS so that it should only, technically, boot from the CD -seems to ignore this
-fixed the boot.ini just in case as it was apparently invalid before -no result but worth a try
-tried booting it in a portable disk drive
and something else but cant remember.

anyway, the CD worked for other PCs as they read them but my computer reads other CDs so i don't know, I'm in a wtf scenario.

any ideas or anyone else with the same problems? the CD is just fucking troll facing me.

thanks for any feedback.

PS. my OS currently is XP Professional, have a gigabyte motherboard i cant remember the name of at the moment but i can find out if need be.

Maybe the CD you are having trouble with is not 64 bit compatible
.

Windows 7 is a dvd, and I am guessing your drive is a cdrom only and not a dvd rom since it works in other computers but not yours even when set to boot from it.

Read the front of your drive and see if you see cdrom or cdrw. In order to use what you have, it needs to say at least Dvd-rom on it. If you do not see that anywhere, or dvd period on it, then it will not work.
