Workout routine ideas?

I want to develop a good solid effective workout routine. I am 145-150 pounds, female, 5 foot 9. I would like to tone my abs (main goal) as well as thighs and upper arms. Also, I don't wanna lose my butt lol. I can squeeze in 45 mins-1 hour, 3 or 4 times a week.
And I know this is a bit limiting...but I cannot run. Never could...my breathing is off and my heart rate is very fast. Running is not an option.
Any ideas for me????

I also can't run (for me it's bad joints). I'd recommend trying a good elliptical machine if you can. It is much better on your joints, and your perceived level of exertion is much less for the same calorie burn. The result is that you get a great workout without feeling like you're killing yourself doing it.

There is no evidence that any of the "targeted" weight loss scams do any good at burning fat in particular areas. However, you can improve the appearance of those areas by toning the muscles. Crunches and obliques will help tone the abs (while the cardio will burn the excess fat). Working on the elliptical will help the thighs, and will also help tone the arms if you use the arm motion part of the elliptical as well. You could also consider some dumbbell workouts to improve the toning of your arms.

Fortunately, at 145 pounds and 5 foot 9 you aren't significantly overweight, so you're really talking about toning an already fairly trim body.

Hope that helps.
