Would a cruise on the Pacific ocean be bumpy in January?

I saw this clip on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-WZU1X--IM&feature=related and I was wondering if this happens on every cruise? Is the pacific ocean calm? Would it be really rocky? Can you feel any movement, or does it just feel like your not moving?

Any comments are welcome, or personal experiences.... thanks :)
