Would a Yamaha WR250R be a good bike to ride mainly on the street?

Well I looked at the wr250r at 2 different dealers and one tells me it would be perfect for what I want and the other one tells me keeping it at a steady rpm for long periods of time (like you do when you ride on the street) would be bad for that engine. Will that bother that engine any? Would it be perfect for what I want. I want something to ride 90% on the street but ride some trail once in a while.

What I would really like is about a 400 enduro but no except suzuki makes them any more. Personally I don't like suzuki. And trying to find a decent used bike is near impossible.

What should I do?
