My birthday is next month and I will be getting a 2008 lexus RX350, BMW X5, or a benz suv, the one of these that I get will be barely used (under 5k miles) and paid in full so no monthly payments.
I will be added to my parents statefarm insurance.
My license is clean of any violations or anything!

So do you think it will cost an arm and leg for insurance for a used foriegn suv?

I live in Maryland

Insurance depends on maby things like age, sex, place, driving habbits ectc. i think it gonna cost you around $200 month. however the best way of know is to take online quotes from 3-4 companies and compare them for price, coverages, dedcutibles and them make your decision. Don't forget to take all discounts like good gpa score (3 and above). this will help in lowering rate. So best of luck for good car and driving. For more info you can read this article

I had a good 1995 car as my first at 17 with a clean license, the cheapest insurance we could find was over $900. I can only imagine what a luxury foreign SUV would cost insured.

In one word--yes. At 18 you're still in the highest rating class, and the premiums on a luxury vehicle will eat you alive. While it might be great to have a guy magnet, you'd be better off just getting a "beater" for a few years until you (hopefully!) establish a good driving record.

State Farm might even decline to insure you at your age on such an expensive vehicle, so be absolutely sure that you can get the coverage before you do commit to buy one. Call your parents' agent to be sure.

I note that you'll be paying cash for the car, but you'll still need to cover it for comp and collision to protect your investment, and those premiums will just be horrendous. And don't forget the lousy gas mileage on such vehicles.
