My car got crashed into at the side, it was completely the other persons fault, if i went through insurance would they write the car off because of this?

I've been told it will be for the damage as it is more to repair than the cost of the car (used)

It's iffy, it's not a lot of damage but it's all about your cars value vs. repair cost. Without knowing the year make and model you can't tell just by the pics. I doubt it will be totaled though.

It depends on your car i.e how old is your car, how many milage has it, what could be the worth of your car at the moment and the insurance company will appoint an engineer to look at it and he will basically assess the damage and will calculate if th0e cost of repairs is up to or more than 60% of the value of the car then the car will be a write off. Otherwise they will get your car fixed. Hope this will help you.

depending on the age of the vehicle I guess,
if it was mine and there was nothing else wrong with car I would offer to buy back the car from insurance and put 2 second hand doors on it.

If the cost of repair is more than the worth of the car, they will write it off.
Buy it back and get it repaired privately for a third the cost,

Cars are written off if the cost of the repair exceeds the cost of the car.
You have not bothered to tell us what car it is or its value so how the hell would we know.

No one here can tell you if your car will be repaired or totaled. Only the insurance company along with their adjusters assessment and maybe a body estimate can determine that. It is a total waste of time to ask anyone else.

The only people to give you a definite answer are your insurers.

Generally if the repair coasts anything like 80% of the value of the car they'll want to write it off. It's impossible to value the car (Citroen Picasso is it?) because we can't see how old it is but they might.

Trouble is, insurance companies use very expensive bodyshops, who bump their prices up even more when it's an insurance job, so while that might only be a grand's worth if you buy a secondhand door and do a cheap repair on it, the bill to the insurer including courtesy car etc could be £3k. You'd be surprised how much insurance claims can cost.

You can always ask to buy back the salvage if they write it off, but you'll be left with a Cat D repaired car.
